Second goal went to Bradyn Melrose at 19:02 on the power play from Tyler Ruel and Jordan Kremyr. Finally the Mills got a lucky bounce in front of the net and Tom Margetak was there to shoot it in at 14:28 from Matt Weist in the second period, trailing only one goal behind the Bulldogs. With :30 into the third period Lee Pagee tied the game up for the Mills from Kyle Leahy. The to put them in the lead, Chad Dunlop scored on the power play at 6:29 from Kevin Noble. The Mills got a penalty after the goal, giving the Bulldogs a chance to score their third goal of the night to tie the game. Third goal went to Bradyn Melrose from Jordan Kremyr and Daniel Hope at 8:04. Both teams were battling the last few minutes out, but both teams were unsuccessful on scoring, putting them into overtime. Overtime started, and both teams were back and forth down the ice. The Bulldogs shot the puck fast, but was shut down by Pierre-Olivier Lemieux. But, the Bulldogs kept coming in fast, and eventually got one past the goalie scoring at 3:39 in the first overtime by Jordan Kremyr, unassisted. Pierre-Olivier Lemieux received Third Star! Prince George Shuts Out Quesnel Goaltender Joe Rodwell stopped all 28 Quesnel shots as the Spruce Kings shut out the Quesnel Millionaires on Saturday 3-0. The win was the 4th in a row for Prince George as they opened the scoring just 57 seconds into the game, as Greg Tyshynski fired a screened shot from the point to open the scoring. The Kings added their second of the night before the first 20 minutes were up as Jeff Forsythe picked up a goal after Quesnel turned over the puck in their zone and the puck just got over the line before goaltender Valliere was able to find it. Both teams were held scoreless in the second period as the tight checking continued as both teams managed only 6 shots each in the second period. The third period had a quicker pace to it, as Quesnel had to take a few more chances, but the defensive style of the Kings held on as Brenden Turnbull jammed it past Quesnel goaltender Valliere with under 3 minutes to play at 17:43 to seal the win for the Spruce Kings. Quesnel outshot Prince George 28-25, and Quesnel will now take their first major road trip of the year, as they play Alberni Valley Thursday, Nanaimo Friday, Victoria Saturday and wind up in Duncan to take on the Cowichan Valley Capitals. Mills Take Langley The Quesnel Millionaires opened up the weekend with a solid victory as Rookie Jordon Harrison notched his first hatrick in the BCHL as Quesnel beat the Langley Chiefs 5-3. Quesnel started out the game outshooting the Mainland team, but the Chiefs were the first to get on the board as Chris Ickert fired a bullet from the point that beat goaltender Pierre-Olivier Lemieux to the blocker side on the power play at 15:34. Harrison scored his first of three, unassisted as he dug the puck out of the corner and fed it through a crowd beating goaltender Scott Orth at 17:46. Harrison put Quesnel ahead 2-1 in the second with a power play tally at 13:36 on a beautiful deflection as it was about to go by the net, Harrison tipped the puck into the top of the net, as the shot came from the point off the stick of Tanner Hlookoff. The other assist went to Rodney Lavoie The third period started out with a fight between Quesnel hockey product Jessie Tresierra playing with Langley, taking on Rodney Lavoie. Lavoie and Tresierra through a multitude of punches, not many from either party landing squarely on the opponent, but it was a good crowd pleaser. Tresierra, it was his second fight of the game and he watched the rest of the third from the Stands. Langley then tied the game, again on the power play at 4:15 as Kyle Mackinnon dug it out of a crowd in front of the Quesnel net, and slid it into the far corner. Quesnel got a fortunate bounce on their third of the night, completing the natural hatrick of Jordon Harrison, as it took a Millionaire bounce, right onto his stick in the Chiefs zone, as it squeezed through the pads of Scott Orth. Langley tied it back up as Nicolas Rioux gave up the puck, as handed it right to Taylor Stefishen as he undressed Lemieux in the Quesnel net, and with just over 6 minutes to go it was a 3-3 tie. Quesnel got the winner at 18:09, as Richard Small swatted in a rebound into the top of the net with assists going to Nicolas Rioux, and to Mitchel Smith. Quesnel sealed the victory with an empty netter as Matt Wiest was the benefactor of a superb clearing off the glass by Darryl Gagnon as Wiest outmuscled the defender and popped in Quesnel fifth goal of the night at 18:58. Mark Lyons picked up the second assist. Quesnel out shot Langley 42-23 and their next action is Saturday Night when Prince George will visit for the third time this year. Mills Suffer a 6-3 Setback The Quesnel Millionaires couldn't overcome their penalties and came up short on a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Prince George Spruce Kings on Sunday afternoon. The Kings started out quickly on the powerplay as Jesse Fratkin picked up his first of two in the opening stanza, at 2:26. Ryan Devries drew the only assist on the opening goal. Quesnel scored the equalizer taking advantage of rookie defenseman James Cannon as Rodney Lavoie over powered him, and skated in and goaltender Dainton was able to stop the first shot, but Jordon Harrison (3) shovelled in the rebound at 13:26. Fratkin then restored the one goal lead, again on the power play, this time unassisted 18:34. Quesnel tied it early in the second at 2:13 when Chad Dunlop (2) carried the puck around the net and threw it in front and it somehow bounced off a player and found enough momentum to get over the goal line. It was back and forth from then on, until late in the period when each team had a minor penalty, and Jeff Forsythe picked up a rebound off the far boards and threw it at the net and it was 3-2 heading into the second period break. Forsythe scored at 19:45 on an even strength goal. It was all Prince George in the third, as they scored at 1:17, Greg Tyshynski with his first on the power play, then his second of the period at 5:41 even strength, and then Jeff Forsythe rounded out the scoring for The Kings on the powerplay, Prince Georges 4th of the night at 7:37. Quesnel finished the scoring with Richard Small tapping in a cross ice goal mouth pass from Jordon Harrison at 19:40, but it was too little too late for a come back at that point. Quesnel was outshot 37-24 in the game. It was still a very successful weekend for the Mills picking up 4 of a possible 6 points. Next action for the Mills is Friday Night when they take on the Langley Chiefs at 7:30 in the Vault. Mills Win Two In A Row The Quesnel Millionaires took 66 minutes to finally beat goaltender Alex Evin and come away with a 1-0 double overtime win against Williams Lake. The only assist was credited to Kevin Noble on the winning play. Evin was outstanding keeping the Timberwolves in the game as he stopped 46 of 47 shots. Quesnels best chance came earlier in the first period when Jordon Harrison rattled one off the post before the rebound was smothered. Harrison also hit the crossbar in the first overtime when he thought he had scored putting it under the bar, but the referee had it quickly waved off. Williams Lake started off with a lot of pressure, outshooting Quesnel 11-8 in the first stanza. Quesnel started to take the game over as they outshot the Timberwolves 13-8 in the second and 20-7 in the third, as you could see Williams Lake starting to tire, as they had to travel back from Salmon Arm Friday Night.
